I bought the hp dv2000t last year in December, and it now has a month left before the warranty expires. The HP service center in my country is agreeably one of the worst. So I just want to make sure that if there is anything wrong with my notebook, I get it repaired for free before the warranty expires.

So I guess my question is, what are some of the things I should check to find out whether my notebook needs repaired?

right now I could only think of basic things like making sure the DVD drive is still playing/writing DVD fine..and so on..

I would really appreciate it if you could help me do a checklist- maybe the more "technical" things - I should check. For example, right now it takes about 1-2 minutes to load Microsoft Excel - what's wrong with that? how do I check if my MSOffice is working ok? how do I check if the screen is working ok? how do I know if the notebook is still running according to the specs? etc etc I think you know what I mean :) because if there is anything wrong with it at all, I would rather have it repaired now while the warranty is still on.

Thanks so much for your inputs! They would really be helpful :)

you can use dead pixel buddy to test for dead pixels: http://www.laptopshowcase.co.uk/downloads.php?id=1
you should also test all of the ports on the laptop to make sure they work...
finally, i would recommend making sure that the AC adapter does not get too hot, or make loud noises, and if it does, you should get it replaced before warranty runs out
