    i use "mobmeter" to check out the temp.
    it's always at 54C, from the windows start up.

    when i open one firefox browser, it goes to 55C, then the fans get louder. (they were already a little loud).

    i used the vantec lapcool 2, and at MAX fan speed, the temp went down to 52C, which isnt much help, the notebook is still really hot.

    is it because i leave it on for months? and almost everyday using my notebook to encode dvds that run for 10 hours.

    i remember when i first puchased the notebook back in june 2004, it was really silent.

    its time to clean up your notebook fans[ :D] take a thin cloth and pass it around the vents and fans
