    Hi all!
Some months ago my wifes nc2400 just died. I couldn't turn it on - it was like a gray brick. I called HP and they fetched it and 5 days later they returned it. Wonderful service. The service report said that the BIOS had been changed or something. Okey. Fine. I'm a chemist and not that experinced with the finer details of computer technology. A couple of days ago it happened again - the computer died. I was sitting in my armchair with the computer in my lap and inserted my 3G HSDPA modem (Huawei, model 220) when the cursed thing just died. Battry indicator showed 75 % charge. I tried using the adapter, but nothing happens. It is dead again. Very well, I send it to HP again. However, after searching internet on subjects like "dead", "bios" and stuff like that I found on a forum that the mother board may have a battery part and a "net" part and if the battery part malfunctions the computer will not run on an adapter unless the battery is removed. Well I removed the battery, but had an inspired idea and inserted the battery again. Voila! The computer works again!
PS. Love the nc2400 - light, very good keyboard och sturdy. DS.

I'm glad to hear that everything is working again!

If it does dies again, however, you may need to physically replace the battery with a new one.

Speaking of the battery, are you referring to the notebook battery or the CMOS battery on the motherboard?
