Hi, i was wondering what the battery life is with the X1300 GPU... I've read a whole range of reviews, and I'm just confused. The one on here with the GMA950 says I can expect somewhere around 2:51....but then other reviews I've read are reporting up to 4:51 with the std. 6-cell and X1300....so frankly, I'm just confused.
Anyone know what it would be for light office tasks with wifi off and screen brightness to mid, or some settings close to that? (with the x1300 too).

    Thanks in advance!

Why do you need the X1300 for light office tasks?

Future Proofing? Wants to have the ability to do light gaming?
    Aero glass?

There are a multitude of reasons.

The GMA 950 does light gaming and Aero Glass. I'm not sure what in the future will require a faster GPU besides gaming.

Couple of minutes ago, I just completed Battery Eater Pro Classic test with my nc6400 (Core Duo 1.6 GHz, ATI X1300). Under full load, Wi-Fi on and max brightness it stopped running at mark 1:30. While doing light office tasks (surfing web, writing documents, Wi-Fi on) I'm usually able to get between 3 and 3,5 hours. Hope it helps.

When I'm on battery, I'll be doing light stuff most of the time. But I need the X1300 for 3d work (autocad and 3ds max). The ocassional gaming, and maybe some vista aero. Long possible battery life is important because I'm flying from Anchorage to San Jose and back in a few months. Possibly even Anchorage to Atlanta then back.
And I'm willing to pay a little extra for a GPU that won't give me any problems with HD content, and would let me play some of the newer games on low settings if I wanted to.

You may consider buying an additional Travel Battery (either 9-cell or 12-cell are available), which is attached to the bottom of nc6400. This should effectively double (for 9-cell) the running time on batteries. See QuickSpecs for more details.

if you want to play HD content, the ATI X1300 won't help very much...

... but the Core Duo has no trouble playing VC-1 and MPEG2 at 1080p and should be able to do H264 at 1080p
