I was looking into purchasing the nc6400 listed here in the deals section from pcconnection http://www.pcconnection.com/ProductDetail?Sku=7340235. It seems like a great deals for under a grand, but what concerns me is the wsxga screen its equipped with. I was wondering if there was a consensus about the screen, and if its really as bad as the dell d620. Should i be avoiding this laptop?

    I've got that one:

Vertical viewing angle is small (some 20° ;) but still good enough for a working laptop. When I sit down and set the screen right, I usualy don't need adjusting it throughout the day.

Resolution is way good enough. So far I didn't feel any regret for not picking a higher res.

Brightness is ok but could be better. Sure good enough for office work, only shows it's weakness in a room flooded with sunlight.

No tearing, ghosting, pixelated artifacts, blockiness, dead pixels or similar things on mine.

Read some complaints about colour accuracy and noticed mine had a certain blue teint too but I could easily correct that by tweaking the colour correction in the driver settings. Still, if you need a laptop for graphic design or such, you might wanna look elsewhere.

Very minor light leakage on the bottom (only noticable if the screen is black) and 1 wee bit brighter spot at right-center (not very noticable though).

All in all, the sceen is good. On a 1-10 scale I'd give it a 7.

As for comparing it to the D620, I had the dubious joy of handling those when working as supporter for dell. I'd say the NC6400 WSXGA screen is much better from what I can tell now (note: didn't get to view em side by side).
