4.2 for the Aero with x1600!? What's the max score, 10?

I have no idea, but I've never heard of any scores above a 5 or 6. Considing my M140 (GMA 900) got something like a 1.x, I'm happy...especially since I sold the M140.

That score is pretty good. A quotation of the "Windows Experience Index" base score levels:

"4.0 - Snappy performance, high‑definition video, high resolution monitors, dual monitors (Very good performing PCs. Types: Desktop replacement laptops. High end desktops.)".

Read this for furhter information on the new gimmick.

@night_2004: Have you tried the ATI Catalyst Beta Driver for Windows Vista RC1 yet? They should work with RC2 as well and probably perform even better than the Vista-provided ones.

yea...actually I had some display corruption with the ATI drivers. The bottom 2/3s of the screen was screwed up when displaying screen savers...I didn't even try playing Oblivion with the ATI drivers.

But, I can tell you that the 4.2 didn't increase with the ATI drivers.

Much better than the 2.5 with my 200M. I'd imagine the only system that would get a perfect score from Vista is one which employs technology that does not even exist yet. lol ;)

By the way, Night_2004, how did you get Vista RC2 (approved beta-testers only?)? I would like to try it myself and see how my L2000 ranks. I suppose, it should be around 2.2-2.3 for the GPU, I guess..

It was made public for about a week on the Vista site alongside RC1, but has since been pulled (from what I understand). I managed to get the iso during that time, but have not done anything with it yet (too lazy). lol

I still have the link bookmarked on one of my other laptops, so I'll check it out later to see if it's still valid.

UPDATE: The MS RC2 link is dead, it just redirects me to the Vista homepage.

MS reached their target download of 200,000 within 72hrs of RC2 being online. So, if you missed you will have to either get it through torrents or Connect/MSDN subsricption.

the GMA 950 gets a 3.0 (Intel's WDDM drivers are much better than ATI's, it seems...unsurprisingly)

yea...but I'm sure the 200M will eventually beat the GMA, once ATI gets their Vista drivers in order.

But both will not be so good for gaming, especially since Vista DX9 performance is actually WORSE than XP's. (I'll try to find the link of the people that tested it.)
