So I booted up AIM on my new nc8430 for the first time and when I send/receive IMs there seems to be an "aftersound" of sorts, sort of like a snare drum that's being rattled. Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it? Right now I'm at about 2/10ths volume so I don't think it's cause I'm stressing the speakers or anything.

Seems anything governed by the "Wave" control in the volume settings gets this snare/fuzzy effect - any ideas as to how to fix this? Right now I've just set the wave volume to almost minimum, it eliminates almost all of this problem but creates the additional problem that some things sound much softer than others.

Is it just that program? If it is, then try tweaking some of the settings with aim, it likes to throw all kinds of obnoxious sounds at you by default.
