    nc8430 Question: i386 and SWSetup Backup

    If I back these folders to either DVD or external hard drive, I should be able to run them from there if I need to. Correct?

    yes, i have done that already...and with great success. even if they did pose trouble, you could always copy the files you need back to the hard drive.

    although I don't think you need the I386 folder... :(

    Would I not need that to rebuild the laptop? I already have an XP CD but its prior any service pack release.

    if you burn the recovery DVDs you'll be fine too...can you do that or have you already deleted the program?

    And no...the recovery DVDs for the nc8430 do not have junkware on them. I just did a restore last night.

    but I guess it would not hurt to copy the I386 folder.

    I'd burn and ditch the swsetup directory. However I'd keep the i386 directory unless your short on space, I always hate finding a Windows CD because I needed to install this or that piece of software.
