    Hi

I've only had my nc8430 for less than a week, but I'm starting to get a little concerned about this whistling sound I constantly hear. It happens whenever I scroll or open a new application, but also other actions too. Basically it's not constantly making the sound.

I have Ubuntu Edgy, Suse 10.1 and Vista RC2 installed and it only seems to occur in Ubuntu. Therefore this must somehow be an Ubuntu issue, but since I've never heard anyone having the same issue I think it's moreso an issue related to the hardware.

It's not that easy to pin-point where exactly the sound is coming from, but my best "guess" would be that it seems to be coming from either the touchpad area or the blue stick pointer area.

The second RAM slot is under the stick pointer and I added an extra module when I purchased it. Is it possible that it could be the RAM upgrade at all? It would sound strange though, because it only occurs under Ubuntu. I also replaced the hard drive, but it is definitely not coming from there.

Now I guess I should actually describe what it sounds like. The easiest description is a whistling sound. It makes one brief whistle for each scroll of the mouse wheel, etc. That's the best description I can give without throwing you off completely.

So, anyone had a similar issue? Got any ideas on what it could be? It's really appreciate some help. Thanks!
