I was wondering if anyone with an nc8430 played WoW, and if so I wanted to ask a few questions. First of all, does it run WoW smoothly at max video settings? I was wondering what the fps were at these settings, any slow downs etc. I was also wondering if the laptop got very hot after extended use. Thanks!

Once mine gets fixed (should be today) I should be able to answer these questions - if no one has by then. With the x1600 though I can't imagine it wouldn't run smoothly at near-top settings though.

Well, I can tell you the laptop approaches 80 degress C when playing video games for a long period of time.

I'm going to hazard a guess that Wow would run fine though...at either near or at max settings. The X1600 is ATIs second most powerful mobile GPU right now.

While I haven't played WoW on my nc8430, I have played HL2 with max options and the res at 1280x800 nice and smooth. I'm confident that it could handle WoW.

I too was wondering the same thing. World of Warcraft is just about the only game I play and I wanted to know how it looked at the 1680 x 1050 resolution. And if it didn't run so great can you play it at lower resolution while still looking sharp?

I've tried that X700 runs WoW on 1680x1050 nearly max settings at ok frame rates (20-40), except in large raids, where the frame rate drops too low to be well playable (10-15). X1600 could add the punch required for smooth action in large raids.

My old computer had a 64mb x600 card and it ran WoW in 1680x1050 alright, even with all the mods I pushed into it. I'm sure the x1600 will admirably.
