I'm considering the nc8430 for my next laptop and it looks very similar to the Macbook Pro in terms of size and weight. How does the actual model feel? Is it as handy as a MBP or is it significantly heavier?

How about when compared to other 14" laptops? I've had an HP DV1000 and a 14" Thinkpad T60. Although they seem similar on paper, the T60 feels much lighter than my HP. So I'm wondering if HP figures on weight is accurate. I'm going to order blind if ever though as most local computer stores here don't stock high end models.

I walk everyday to work (5 mins) and travel overseas regularly (6-7 times a year) so I need a handy computer. 14" has been my ideal size for quite sometime but the 15" nc8430 looks tempting cuz MBP dimension similarities.

For existing nc8430 users, would you recommend it to be carried everyday? Btw, I'm only 5'6" and not very strong hehe

    Thanks!

The weight specification on NBR seem way off. Go to HP and Lenovo's page for each systems, and you'll see the weight is quite different, to the tune of 12-13 ounces. Altough, be careful for the all-important footnote. How the Notebook is weighed can be different -- for example, the lenovo page doesn't include the optical drive and the AC Adapter.

However, the 8430 is a larger, more powerful system, so it should weight in a bit more then either of those. (1/2-1 LB more).

You also might want to consider the Sony SZ and the Asus W3J if you want portability...but I like the nc8430 too (just ordered one this week in fact)
