My nc8430, ordered almost 3 weeks ago, comes tomorrow! I've heard lots of things about reinstalling Windows XP, making backup discs, going through steps to get Windows XP to recognize the SATA drive (or something like that?)...and I don't really know what to do!

Here's what I'd like to have (my assumptions here could be WAY off, please correct me if I'm wrong):
-Backup discs for Windows XP if I ever have to do a reinstallation or something (I hear these don't come with the computer?)
-As much room on the HD free as possible. I've heard some of it is taken up with restore information for Windows XP, and if I have the discs burned it seems like I wouldn't need this and could free it up.
-Software to make the fingerprint reader work - again, I've heard software for this isn't included, or something like that?
    -Anything else you guys recommend?

This post is probably pretty hard to understand and comprehend, but if anyone can get the gist of what I'm asking, can you help? Thanks!

You can make recovery DVDs through the HP Recovery program already installed on the notebook.

After you make the DVDs, you can delete the recovery partition.

The nc8430 comes with zero bloatware; there is a software setup that allows you to choose what software/drivers you would like to install on your notebook, and the credential manager for the fingerprint reader is one of them.

I'd recommend installing AV and spyware software immediately, firefox, etc.
