    Hello,

    I got my new nc8430 yesterday; after creating the Recovery Disks, I removed the Recovery Partition and used Gparted to shrink the main partition in prepartion to install FC5. After doing this, I noted a discrepancy in the reported amount of disk space used. If I look at the properties of the C: drive in Windows or using Gparted, I see that I'm using 10.4 GB of space. However, JDiskReport shows that only 6.1 GB is being used and this corresponds with what I see as I take a look at the subdirectories on the C drive. Any idea where the other 4.3 GB have gone?

    Thanks for your help!

    Regards...

    Probably the page file (virtual RAM), System Restore, and/or Hibernation support. All three borrow from the hard disk to do what they do best.

    To Change the page file size (recommended to leave it set at 1.5-3x the amount of RAM you have): Right Click My Computer->Properties->Advanced->Performance Settings->Advanced->Change Virtual Memory Settings

    System Restore: Right Click My Computer->System Restore
    *I find this useless and I've turned it off in favor of Norton Ghost

    Hibernation: Control Panel->Power Options->Hibernate
    *I usually shut my computer down instead so I shut this off too.
