Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with your nc8430 going over 80 C and if that was normal (I'm pretty sure thats **** hot). And should I do anything about it, should I call HP?

What program are you measuring that temperature with?
NHC definitely isn't capable of reading the temps correctly (for instance it sometimes shows 70C when I'm doing NOTHING, while Everest will show 45-50C). -
im downloading everest, but does anyone else have any advise while im waiting?
-
If Everest does show temperatures that seem on the high side, then I suggest a cooling pad. They will help your notebook stay cool.

I'd suggest a cooler for the nc8430 in any event...it's a lot hotter than my previous laptop (granted it wasn't as powerful). But it's only hot when playing games...general usage and I'm fine with the temps.

i maxed out my laptop, and it ran at about 77 on each core and 60 on the cpu and 50 on the mother board, does this seem about right?
-
Sounds like the results I got during my review period on the notebook. The 77 (that was my tested max) bothers me a little bit, but as long as it doesn't get hotter I'm fine with it.

I have nw8240, which has the same chassis as nc8430. If you are experiencing heating problems, they can be due to dust getting into the cooling vent. It was thus in my case (I was getting up to 103 C). Get your vacuum cleaner and try to suck dust out of the vent on the bottom. It fixed my heating problem, which appeared about 1 year after the purchase.
-
I also suggest you buy a can of compressed air and clean out the air vents every so often. Dust builds up in there and then it causes all the heat to stay in the laptop -
Just undervolt your CPU and your full load temps will go 10-15C lower.

Sorry to bump this but what do you mean by 'undervolting'
And where can I get a cooling pad from - I'm experiencing my laptop overheating quite a bit when I play VT3, which it wasn't before.
