    i just plugged in my usb drive and got a message telling me that i needed to plug it into a hi-speed usbport to improve performance but i'm pretty sure the usb ports on this notebook are all usb2.0, is there anyway i can check this?

    they are...try updating windows and make sure all your drivers are installed properly. beyond that can someone else chime in?
