    hi guys im new here at notebook review and i need some help....

    i am about to buy a hp dv 1000, but i need advice for which options should i get because im on a budget. the options that i will surely get is the a centrino cpu, 54g wireless speedbooster, xbrite screen, dvd/cdrw and remote control.

    i will use the laptop for internet to download and browse, watch dvd, burn cds, play some games (like the sims but nothin like doom 3) and do some office applications. also i would like my laptop to conserve much energy as much as possible. so which of RAM, CPU and HDD speed options do i need that is suitable for my usage?

    could you guys please help me out?

    For battery conservation, definetly get the Pentium M. As for the RAM and hard drive, I'd upgrade after purchase. HP will charges $75 to upgrade to 512Mb memory. You can buy, after purchase, a 512Mb stick of memory, leaving you with 768Mb of memory for the same price. Same for the HD. Dell has Hitachi 40Gb 7200 HD for $100 plus tax. Throw the old drive in an external USB case for extra storage. You don't need a fast hard drive for storage . Hope this helps.

    Without knowing budget concerns, there is no reason to not get hte fastest PM CPU, HDD and the most memory you can afford.
