If the power light blinks when you push the power button, that means that the battery is dead . . . are you sure the wall socket you are plugging into has power?

    Batteries are usually $100-$150.

Take out the battery and unplug the notebook. Then press down the power button a bunch of times. This will drain any excess electricity running in the notebook that could be causing issues.

The next thing I would suggest is reseating the RAM.
