As for as this particular model is concerned, it should be a decent performer. The Pros being the 2GB RAM and the large HDD but the biggest con would be the graphics card(GMA 950). Ofcourse the 950 is still fine for the average home user and will run the Vista Aero interface but if you are interested in gaming then this is the worst option. For under $1000 it is a pretty OK deal.

You missed out! About a month ago they were offering the 6433cl with a $200 rebate ($750). I got it and I can say so far it's pretty good. I can't play CS:S but I can still play Raven Shield. Multitasking is great, I can be downloading torrents, watching a movie and browsing the internet all at once with no slow down. I get close to 3 hours battery life while watching a movie and doing hw with wireless on.

    Complaints:

If you hear a whining noise when you first get it go into BIOS and disable C4 power state.

No VGA/hdmi output. There is only a dinky s-video out and it's looks absolutely AWFUL on hdtvs.

fingerprint magnet. all the new HPs have this annoyance. i dont mind too much but sometimes it would be nice to look down and see a clean lid.
