Go for the special edition but don't plan on playing any of the latest and greatest games.

Unfortunately, I would beg to differ. Right now the AMD dual core processors are not performing very well. compared to the Intel core 2 Duo which has proven to me its performance capabilities, I would go with the basic DV2700T. I'm sure the notebook looks very extravagant, but keep in mind you'll be using this notebook for other things than having other people stare at it. Honestly, both the X3100 and the 7150 are terrible. Those both shouldn't be factors in any way.

As for CS and Diablo 2, the X3100 will handle them without a flaw. I have 3 gigs of ram in my notebook right now and that is more than enough for gaming and heavy multitasking. 4GB is optimal but isn't absolutely necessary.

All of these statements are said with experience. My sister has a DV6700Z and my friend owns the DV2700T.
