    need some help EQing the speakers

    the speakers sound blown out at anything above minimal volume. i don't need them for music, only watching tv shows or short internet clips. there's what i guess you'd call a rattle when anyone is talking. i just want to know if there's any options i can set from the IDT audio control panel as well as specific EQ functions on playback programs like winamp or media player classic to help solve this. any help appreciated that isn't getting outside speakers or headphones.

    several months later. this problem went away without even realizing it after i hadn't shut it down in over a month. i just restarted and it's back to the way it was when i originally made this thread. still no ideas?

    it's a dv7-1170us.

    Weird things just tend to happen if you leave your machine on for extended periods of time without rebooting.

    When in doubt, reboot!

    it was the rebooting that set the speakers back to broken though.

    call tech support. maybe your speakers are just faulty.

    If they sound like rattling they are faulty. Press on the areas where the speakers are - if that doesn't quiet them then they are broken.
