I need a cheap travel charger , do hp notebooks work with third part chargers.

My dv6 comes with a 120w charger , will a 90w one suffice, on the inside of the battery bay it says 18.5v at 3.5a or 18.5v at 6.5a or 19v at 4.74a

I have found a few 19v at 4.74a 90watt chargers will these work OK.

    Thanks.

Sorry to bring up this old thread, but I just received my dv6tse and was disappointed to see the tank of an ac adaptor...Just wondering if anyone had a good travel one to use instead?

Although the dv6t typically comes with a 120W power adapter if it has a quad-core processor, a 90W adapter will suffice. The 90W adapter should simply charge the battery at a slower rate while the notebook is on.

You can actually get genuine HP 90W adapters for much less than the retail price. Brand new ones can be found for about US $20-30.
