HP released a BIOS update for its AMD-based Compaq Presario V6000z and HP Pavilion dv6000z/dv9000z series of laptops. It appears this is only for the models that came BEFORE the x500 series refresh [example: laptops that came BEFORE the dv6500z, dv9500z, etc].

    The BIOS version is F.40.

    Code:
WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS (for Notebooks with AMD
    Processors) - Microsoft Windows/Vista-Based

    VERSION: F.40 REV:
    DESCRIPTION:
This package contains the WinFlash Utility and a BIOS image for the supported
notebook models and operating systems. The WinFlash Utility is used to locally
flash the System BIOS (ROM) on notebooks operating in a Microsoft Windows XP or
    Microsoft Windows Vista environment.

    PRODUCT MODEL(S):
Compaq Presario V6000 Notebook PC Series
HP Pavilion dv6000 Notebook PC Series
HP Pavilion dv9000 Notebook PC Series

    PURPOSE: Routine
    SOFTPAQ NUMBER: sp40313
    SUPERSEDES: sp39469, sp38061, sp38061
    EFFECTIVE DATE: August 08, 2008
    CATEGORY: BIOS
    SSM SUPPORTED: YES

    ENHANCEMENTS:
    - Updates the fan control algorithm of the notebook to reduce the likelihood of
    future system issues.

It appears to combine F.3D's "fan algorithm" quick fix [an attempt to increase the lifespan of these particular laptops, if you don't remember], with whatever it was F.3F added. Probably no need for those with F.3D to upgrade, and probably good for those with F.3F who want to go back to F.3D.

A reminder: It stands to reason that, if you have a BIOS version GREATER than F.40, that this BIOS update is not applicable for your system. ;)
