Hi all, I just installed a new 12-cell battery on my 1 month old v2000z and love it. One thing though, not a big deal, but the Notebook Hardware Control software still seems to think that the old battery is in there. When fully charged, it reports the charge rate as %230, and full capacity as 55411 mWh, current capacity as 127398 mWh. Is there any way for me to re-calibrate the software so that it reports a full charge as %100?

No, because the battery (or BIOS?) wasn't reporting the correct numbers to begin with. The dv8000z confused me at first with its misreporting too. Full capacity for the 6 cell should be 40000 or 44000 mWh and 88000 mWh for the 12 cell. My 44000 mWh battery is misreporting as a 71280 mWh battery.
The CPU temperature sensor isn't reporting correctly either, so I'm inclined to blame BIOS bugs. -
Well, a restart fixed it. The voltage may or may not be correct, but the full capacity is now 127..., and the top percentage is now %100 again, with 5.5 hours reported remaining.

There are different issues. The 6-cell batteries was mis-recognized as higher capacity one in some HP/Compaq laptops. The 12-cell battery does not have this problem. In this case, the 6-cell battery (old one) was recognized with slightly higher capacity (55Wh vs 48Wh), but the real problem is the nhc failed to detect the new 12-cell battery. I guess this is a bug in the nhc. Are you using 1.10a or 1.9b3?
By the way, the info from brianstretch is not correct. First of all, the 6-cell battery (PF723A or PM579A) is rated 4400mAh (48Wh). Secondly, the 12-cell (PB995A) is rated 8800mAh (or 95Wh). Most people mix up the mAh and mWh rating numbers. My 12-cell battery is now with 84445mWh full capacity with a 11% wearing from the original 95Wh capacity. -
using 1.10
mWh reported as 127398, wear level %0 -
Try this to see if it helps. If it still does not work, try calibrating the battery.

You could always reinstall NHC.
