I just ordered the dv4000 with the x700. I happen to have a stick of RAM (1GB DDR2 533mhz Transcend) that I'd like to use for it. Does anyone know if this will work?
(I didn't order RAM from HP - just the 256MB - so if my RAM won't work, I'll need to order some ASAP)
    Thanks.

I recently purchased the new dv4000 as well, and was planning on upgrading the ram (I too only ordered 256mb). Today I had a very lengthy chat sessioin with one of HP's online technicians (Santiago), and he insisted that the new model uses DDR ram, rather than DDR2. Hopefully he is mistaken. If anyone finds any more information, please post it here. There are at least two people waiting to find out!

Does anyone know how hard it is to access both memory slots. I just ordered 2GB of ram and just realized it may be hard to put them in. :-(.

Cool name, but as noted, he is wrong. The second slot is probably located under the keyboard. The service manual for the v4000 should cover the procedure for replacing it. There isn't much of a performance differnce between the two memories.

Yeah he is a moron because the DV4000 that was listed with the intel 900 was configured with DDR. If you look at the configuration now it shows DDR2. I guess the least they can do is check there own website for correct info.

If you ask them three different times you will get three different answers.. its quite sad. I hate outsourcing, especially to India. they really have no clue.

A few months ago I called Dell to ask them about their 7200 rpm drives in their notebooks. The sales rep on the phone didn't know what a harddrive was.
