Off-hand, I'd say the LCD is definitely the machine's weakest point. I really don't like the 16:9 format (I feel like I'm missing tons of space at the top of the screen; there's some serious bezel up there). However, I'd have that with the 1600X900 screen as well, only I'd have more pixels to work with.

At the same time, the LCD is bright and clear, and colors seem good. I've not played with it all that much, so I'll give more of an impression later. Would I rather have a standard Envy 14 with the 1600X900 LCD? Probably. The Beats Edition looks and feels great (literally; there's a nice soft paint on the wrist rests that's nice but taking some getting used to), and is likely to be a bit les common. But, outside of that, I'd say the lack of the Radiance screen is a bigger factor.

As I think I mentioned, I ordered this because it's what Costco was selling. If they start selling the standard Envy 14 line within my 90 day return period, I'd definitely consider switching.

to accommodate the new intel cpus? Sand Bridge is just around the corner now

and AMD will eventually launch pretty soon the HD 6XXX series

but a redesign of the case is a good idea, the case for the envy 14 is much easier to assemble and to produce, or so it seems.

Playing this waiting game is tough.... I was hoping for hp to refresh the Envy 15 so that I could make a purchase around black friday. If they are waiting for intel's new cpus, I'd have to wait till next year!!! :(

    ^ this times a million.

Also, I really hope with the 15 refresh they sincerely take on the battery life issue, HP has done a fantastic job with the Envy series, thats the only thing thats lacking for me. I know, I know, theres always the slice, but I'd rather have an envy that'll easily pull 7 hours on the standard battery, and the better part of a day with the slice.

Please, they CAN'T assemble jack correctly. Have you looked any Envys lately?

If it were easy there wouldn't be nicks, cracks, bends or chips on practically all notebooks to date.
