Curious, with the huge and rare discount coupon hp is offering until the 21st, doesn anyone know of new hp models coming after that? I don't want to get stuck with last seasons technology and I was really wanting a Turion x2 with DDR2800 support.
-
-
the biggest change I can see is the Santa Rosa platform, which to me doesn't offer anything that groundbreaking.
-
where did you find the discount coupon, on HP.com.

I hope they release a 15.4' laptop with a WSXGA+ screen.. I would have to buy another dell laptop just because of that.
When are "santa rosa" laptops being released? Anyone knows?
[OT]Funny how the laptops dell is selling today are the same as two+ years ago. I had an inspiron 6000d, and the e1505 looks exactly the same. -
Santa Rosa is supposed to be out in the beginning of May, so within a week or two of that we should begin seeing new models carrying it.
-
Great! I'll wait and see then.. The current deals are pretty good, but they'll likely release new stuff..
I talked to HP support like two days ago, and asked they about 15.4 wsxga+ screens, and I got a different response than usual. Instead of the traditional "sorry, no model available" that I got many times in the past, I received a "sorry, can't discuss this" response.
Probably just a misunderstood, but you never know!

May 9th is the date for new model announcements.
-
Where did you find the coupons? Could you provide the link?
-
Seeing as HP's Global Gaming Unit is developing new desktops and notebooks to run as a new brand (apart from Pavilion and Presario) for HP, I'm sure we'd see high res screens on those models as well, if we don't get them on the Pavilions.
-
and i just order dv9255.did i made big mistake?
how much better they will be? -
the code is NB4455, you just use it at check out.
Where did the information on the May 9th announcement come from? -
Its expected that Santa Rosa notebooks at first will be on the expensive side, and larger notebook manufacturers will have them ready. Alot of manufacturers have released details on their new Santa Rosa equipped notebooks, but we will have to wait and see which actually can deliver when the time comes. Prices should begin to decrease as the supply for processors and other components increases. Dell is normally the first one to get newer technology to the market, and they normally phase out the older technology, just that bit quicker than other manufacturers.
Santa Rosa will have a performance boost, but it shouldn't be massive, and it only really benefits those who are going to be completing some processor intensive tasks, such as video editing or eoncding, on their notebooks. there are a few other features, like draft .n wireless support, but its thats not a big advancement like the 800 MHz FSB that the processor gets, which helps those processor intensive applications. -
Thanks for the info, guys.. I'll definitely wait and see!
-
how much you guys saving on th enotebooks with the coupons

We should see new AMD laptops too, using either the AMD 690M or nVidia's new chipset. Either allows for a HDMI port. There are new 65nm Turion X2's on the way too (finally!) which may or may not be available at launch. I suspect they'll make more of a battery life difference than their official specs would suggest.
Should != will, BTW. -
yeah, I guess I'm holding out for the new Turions. But if they are ridiculously expensive I'll just get a nicely equipped Core 2 duo.
-
Yes, if your a normal user (word processing, and playing games), Santa Rosa has little to offer. The newer Core 2 Duo processors included will make a difference to performance, but in games and most other non-processor dependant appplications, there will be no real difference. There are some other features that are a part of Santa Rosa that look interetsing, however, but the majority have nothing to do with increasing performance.
It shouldn't be expensive. AMD knows there behind Intel on the performance, and on some models, with battery life too, so there only real drive to get the sales, is to reduce prices. They seem to want to get as low prices as possible to get their sales up, and yu can see this with both their mobile and desktop processors. -
tnx ppl
i made up my mind -
