    Hi,

I am having a noteboo, which i got 2nd hand from mmy friend.........it doesnt has any recovery partition......but it has 2 drives C: and D: so my questions:

    1. How do i reinstall a complete new XP with formating that drive
    2. there has been to windows directory, one on C and another on D, also at startup it shows three XP OS options, means someone would have tried installing XP on both C and D, so now how do i know which windows i am currently booting with...?
    3. any special care while installing OS on a notebook, as till now i did only for deskptop......if yes pls let me know.

    Thanks,
    Prasad

Firstly, there's no need to post this same thread 3 times through out the forum... once is enough.

To create a single XP installation, put in you XP CD. When you are start your computer. When it asks you to press any key to boot from CD, do so. Then, using the partition manager on the CD, every partition and create a new one using the enire hard drive. Finally, install XP on that new partition.

Here's a Microsoft article for a more in-depth list of instructions.

Welcome to NBR Prasad. First I see you posted this 3 times which is kind of unnecessary, You only have to post once and someone will get with you on your question.

    1. You need an Xp cd, either OEM if the serial is OEM or retail if its retail. You set the bios (F2) to load from the cd rom first in the boot order, then follow the instructions. You may want to delete all of the partitions so that it becomes one again before setup, then do a format, not the quick format, for NTFS, then follow on.

    2. Sounds like the person had dual or triple boot for whatever reason. I dual boot Xp and Vista but don't see a reason why someone would triple boot 3 versions of Xp, unless they are geeky.. :GEEK:

    3. Everything is the same, I would try to find the drivers for the notebook ahead of time at the mfr's website to help out beforehand, but no necessary. Hope this helps.

Yeah we have members and mods from all over the world so there is pretty much someone knowledgeable here 24-7. Yes it's the same thing as a desktop, only smaller..hehehe

They should still have them on their website... how old are we talking?

Anyway, here's Lenovo's driver download section.

Also, if it's a Lenovo notebook, why did you post it in the HP and Dell boards? I just curious...

Yeah, that'd most likely be fine. There is, however, a desktop board. Both are probably fine.
