YES! I can FINALLY overclock my 8400M GS! Ever since after 169.04, all the drivers would go back to default clocks as soon as I hit Apply in any program I tried, but not anymore!

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com

Windows 7 users, this apparently is the first nvidia driver that supports Windows 7....the setup of the driver install said Windows 7 32-bit Setup

    REJOICE!

If this works on my card I'll be so mad!! I recently spent many hours learning how to create a custom bios so I can overclock with newer drivers.

Yup! I dualboot both Vista and 7, and tried the drivers on both, and Vista allowed me to OC as well.

Try it out, flip! No more 169.04!

I finally got my HDX16t w/ 9600GT overclocked using these drivers. I'm not sure if it was the drivers, because they didn't work right away after installing and rebooting, but after some more fidgiting and another reboot per request by Rivatuner 2.22 i can actually overclock now. currently testing 625/1600/500, so far so good stability-wise.

hey flip, glad I could share the good news with you. I know you and me both have been trying for ages.

These drivers are actually smarter than I thought, when on battery power, it turns off overclocking, but on AC, works perfect, just how it should be.

flip, what card do you have? 8400M GS? Mine is the 64MB with GDDR3, my default clocks are 400/800/600 but I can easily push it to 600/1200/900 and the farthest I've gone is 640/1280/930, how about you?

wow your OC is quite high. I only push mine up to 550/1100/850 (GDDR3 64mb).

I know i can push mine further but better to be safe than sorry. I reconditioned the AS5 and copper mod just last week. Runs super cool.

I tried these using LV2Go infs and it booted up the laptop in 4-bit colors, 800x600 resolution and there's no NVIDIA Control Panel. Also I now understand that you can only overclock with the 169.04 drivers for the 84xx and 86xx cards right?

Yeah some of the geforce 8 series are limited to the 169.04 drivers. Its not just HP notebooks aswell...

I noticed these drivers dont use powermizer. Always on full clocks.

Maybe it downclocks when on battery mode..

Similar problem, after reboot, the laptop uses the default VGA standard for display; when I try to change the resolution, I get a message stating these drivers are for a previous version of windows and are not compatible.

I DL the drivers and modded inf from here:

    http://laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22521

and was installing (using the 'Have Disk' method) on the Win XP SP2 OS on my Pavilion.

Small issue with these drivers, they cant overclock when on battery. Powermizer keeps it downclocked to the lowest clocks.

I tried playing CSS at work today, very dissapointing fps. You just need to disable powermizer manually through the registry.

Thanks, I was looking for this driver, but unfortunately overclocking with rivatuner is still failing, values are always back to default when I open the system settings.

I'm on windows vista and got the latest version of rivatuner, what should I do ?

I'm on an aspire 7720G, my graphic card is a 8400M GS.

Try using driversweeper in safe mode to clear out any traces of drivers and try re-installing it again
