    Hey all,

Had an incident over the weekend and busted the slider on the bezel to open the notebook. I may be able to get by replacing the thin, long plastic piece that houses the slider along with the plastic piece inside that holds the springs/hooks to snap it shut. Anyone have part numbers available for the individual parts or even a full replacement bezel? Outside of ebay, any suggestions? I've had no luck thus far, will be calling hp sometime tomorrow to see what they can tell me.

Thanks very much for any info

Unfortunately, to my best knowledge the entire top half of the notebook, i.e. LCD screen and the plastic lid + bezel are identified by a single part number. You'll mostly have to replace the entire top part unless you can find the individual plastic bits.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I did come across what I believe will be perfect on ebay here that has the identical dimensions although different resolution but the bezel should work. So, 42 bucks shipped for a drunkened oopsie isn't all bad.

The pic didn't turn out real well but this is the end result

Thanks again for all the info

For that price, it's really cheap. Nice find!

Thanks man, it should do the trick, no? Seems perfect but a little odd because of the price. I looked at a couple dozen other similar lcd's and they all started at $150+ and went up from there. I should have it tuesday and will see what happens. In the meantime my mini flathead screwdriver will pop this puppy open like nobody's business ;)

btw, UFC + excess hefeweizen = busted notebook

If you get exactly the set that's listed for sale, then yes, it will definitely work. The price is incredibly low, though.
Just get the service manual off HP's support site for instructions on how to take it apart. It's not very difficult because they have been designed to be easily taken apart.

yeah, that is what i'm hoping arrives. I've already pulled the bezel off completely and it should be pretty quick assuming the frame is the same. Shouldn't be more than half hour assuming it comes as listed as i'm pretty anal about this thing :D

Just in case anyone was curious, the swap went perfect. Took about 75 minutes as I took my time and as is usually the case, I had to re-route the antennas (have replaced numerous thinkpad lcd's and the antennas are brutal to run) ans while they stayed routed the same way they just had to be tucked. All in all very happy. Anyone need a brand new 1600x1200 hp/compaq lcd for $40 shipped? :)
