    Hello,

I bought a nw9440 one month ago and I'm overall happy with it, although I noticed that the lcd plastic frame is getting very hot right where the HP logo and the ambient light sensor are located. As it's my first laptop, I don't know if it's normal (because of the lamp) or not.

Also, I don't know if it's the problem only with my nw9440, or all of them have this problem, but mine is running hot (or maybe it's because of the weather? ;) ).

So other nw9440 users - please tell me if all of this is normal or not ;)

    Thanx,

    Shapha

Al normal I think. Happenin 2 me 2. I own a HP as well btw so u shouldn't worry 2 much bout it. It's not like ur laptop is gonna overheat or blow up or anything. Overall, the quality of HP notebooks is not half bad.

Yes, these things do produce some heat. It is due to the backlights which consume most power and so give out more heat. Reduce the screen brightness and the heat should decrease. It is quite normal. I would only worry if the heat is excessive and the area becomes too hot.

Thanks for your replies. Just to see what happens in terms of temperature in my laptop, I installed MobileMeter and here's what I can read:

    Temperature: 48°C
    Temperature: 41°C
    Temperature: 55°C
    Temperature: 41°C
    HDD #0 Temperature: 39°C

I have no idea why there's 4 different temperatures shown and which one is the CPU temp. In the MobileMeter options it shows "Thermal Zone: #0: TZ0".

Could you please tell me if those temperatures are rather normal or should I worry about my new laptop?
