With the configuration that I need the prices on these two models are very close. Which model is better built and will last longer.

The business model will have better build quality. Here are two reviews:
    v3000z: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=63228
    nc6325: http://laptopmag.com/Review/HP-Compaq-nx6325.htm

Yet, have in mind that v3000z is 14'', while nx6325 is 15''. I'm not sure which integrated chip is better but probably the Nvidia in the business notebook has the edge.

Edit: I have just tried customizing V3000z at HPshopping and I'm amazed how cheap this thing comes if you upgrade RAM after market. The instant $150 savings offer makes it the perfect moment to order :)

Is HP your only choice? Now I'm an AMD lover, though I must say, Core Duo and Merom are both much more power efficient and more powerful than the AMD mobile chips. Have you considered the Dell Inspiron 640m with C2D yet? That's a cheap, fast notebook and even though it has integrated graphics, there's no point playing games and such on the integrated geforce go 6150.

I wouldn't recommend a notebook with Intel integrated graphics, and Intel notebooks lose much of their battery time advantage when you switch to a dedicated GPU (it's their weak integrated GPU chipset that gives them their advantage more than their CPU).

Yea, same here lol... it's my first time recommending IGPs (of any kind) to someone. It's just that what's the point of getting a geforce go6150? Intel GMA950s are good enuf for dvds and such. You won't be gaming on the 6150. I'm mainly recommending the Inspiron 640m because of its AWESOME battery life. True the weak GPU saves battery, but even the desktop C2D have less power consumption, with any graphics card when compared to AMD. Notebooks are less pronounced, but unless AMD gets the 'Yokohoma' platform out soon, then Intel with C2D will stay the king, in both mobile and desktop.

I just look at it the other way around, Whats the point of the GMA 950 when there is the 6150/X1100. It can do all of what the GMA 950 can do and do it better and even be capable of playing some games at medium/low settings which the GMA950 will not be even able to play. The Nvidia/ATi graphics also offer better support for future hardware(H264 for example). The difference between the battery life is overblown. Having used both the Core Duo and the Turion X2, I would say the battery life difference is around 10% depending on the usage. I average around 2.5hrs with the 6 cell battery, evidently the same as experienced by the reviewer on the dv2000t(Core Duo, GMA 950). So the battery life thing is heavily dependant on how you use the notebook and the capacity of the battery. HP tend to use the low capacity 6 cell batteries(43Whr, 4000mAH) on their notebooks and do not offer a 9 cell option but instead just jump to the high capacity 12 cell battery(95Whr, 8800mA).

I have looked at it that way, and seriously, I myself will not be considering ANY sort of IGP. Heck, i'm going to get the A8Js when and if it's released here down under. I really wouldn't recommend anything short of a geforce go7400/mobility x1400/X1100 (one of the decent integrated cores). Still, it depends on what you do. I just liked the 640m because of its low price and great battery life. The chassis is also a mini version of the e1705, that's cool.
