    Hello,
    i have just run this test and I got a result of 7409. Isn't this too low for a 1.5centrino 512 Ram, 64 MB ATI 9200, 40GB 4200 rpm, WSXGA 1680x1050?
I would like to compare it to other laptops with similar specs.
However, I have just run the same test on my desktop: P4 1.8 GHz, 512 RIMM RAM, 64 MB Geforce3 and I got a score of 5820 ! Does this mean that my desktop computer is messed up or that my laptop is incredibly much better?
    Thank you.

P.S: a little bit off-topic question (sorry for that): As you will have noticed in the results provided below, the chipset is a Radeon 9000 instead of 9200! Have I been ripped off?

These are the results I get:

Yeah, unless you got a machine with either the 9600 or 9700 there is not really anyway for you to beat that score, 3dMark is based almost solely on your gpu and as Slat said your 9200 is what this score is testing.

It sounds about right, my system in my sig at highest quality gets a score of ~8900. The 9200 is the limiting factor here.

Yes, your laptop is a better gaming machine than your desktop, the processor is certainly faster and your GPU is very similar to the GF3 if not a little faster.

You aren't getting ripped off. Compare your score to a similar laptop with a Radeon 9000 and you will see that it is generally faster, although this depends on the manufacturer as they determine the clock speeds of their chips. The 9200 is really just an overglorified overclocked 9200. It is either the program not being able to determine the proper chip (most likely the case) or you have an overclocked 9000 that performs on par with a 9200.

Thank you fellow forum associates or ie... Junkies. This does seem to be a persistent question. I was very interested due to a pending purchase decision. I was ready to buy a fully loaded zd7000 and really still am until this week when apple upgraded their 17" g4 power book to include a 1.5 g4, 4x burner and a 128 ati 9700. They also dropped the price $200. The display on the power book is also touted to be the only digital lcd on the market as opposed to all the others being analog. This apparently allows an extremely sharp image even at 1440 x 900. They claim that the image is as sharp as a uxga analog screen without the shrinkage. Any oppinnions???[?] The other interesting point is that the burner is a - foremat only. The zd7000 is a + foremat only. Why no standard[?] I have heard that the new cd and dvd players read both. Is this true[?] I have also heard that the - foremat predates the + foremat. Is this true[?]

as far a 9700, 9600, and 5700 I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that the desktop versions of these cards the 9600 pro beat the 5700 and 9700 of course beats them both. Other than that I've just had less problems with ATI than with nVidia so I am biased there.

I know apple has great graphics in their powerbooks, but what the point????

You can't really get any games for them, let alone games that would actually need that kind of power.
