    Hello,
I just bought a Compaq nx7400. I heard that it is better for the battery to take it off when you're using it plugged to the wall. So I was just wandering if nx7400 can be used without battery without causing any damage to it. I know it's a noob question but better to be safe than sorry.

I've always used the battery of a laptop as a cheap UPS system. lol.... so you could argue, it could help save your laptop (if you don't have a ups).

I've read you can't overcharge the battery, so it won't hurt it. I've used my 3000z for years with it plugged in as my main machine and the battery is still ok (not perfect due to age, but ok). It never burst into flames like a dell. rofl
