When I watch movies on my nx8220 (2.0 1024) the frame rate seem to be lower than it should be. It's kind of jumpy. I've noticed this with dvds as well as avi files playing of my hdd. Seems to be as bad or worse when connected to my tv via s-video. I have the x600 with only 64Mb, could that have something to do with it?

That's doubtful. Playback of video's is not dependent of the video card, it's mainly CPU power that does it. I read in a different post that you ran CHC and other utils to make your system run cooler. It's possible these utils are the cause of the problem. I play DivX & DVD's right from my notebook all the time and output to my TV without any problems at all. I may get the occasional audio sync problem, but I believe it was just a bad encode job for the AVI files. You may want to try disabling all the background processes and see if it helps. Also, as a last step, reload your OS from scratch and install all the latest drivers. I didn't use some of the drivers from the HP site, Intel Chipset drivers, ATI drivers & Intel WiFi drivers were all downloaded from the manufacturers websites. They have much newer drivers than what's available on HP's site. This may help with your video playback by eliminating all the excess garbage that may be running in the background or possibly just conflicting with other versions on the system.

Is your power setting under max battery? If that's the case, then the CPU won't have enough processing power to play movies.

In most cases, the CPU will drop to 800Mhz, that's more than enough power to run DivX movies from your HDD. Unless setting to Max Battery drops below 800Mhz.

You're welcome. I got the exact same unit so it's easy to do a comparison when something's not working right. Just glad to see everything's working fine.

    Abogus,

Which drivers are you talking about?

You can get the Intel Chipset & WiFi drivers directly from Intel. The ATI x600 drivers can be downloaded directly from ATI, plus use the Mobility Modder from www.DriverHeaven.net/patje and mod your drivers.

That's pretty much all you can really do in terms of drivers. Everything else is downloaded directly from HP.

If this is not what you're looking for, then you're S.O.L. as there's no other place to get updated drivers.
