    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone here had the same problem as I have.

I bought an nx8220 (p-m 1.86, wuxga lcd) about 1.5 years ago, and was really happy with it until it started to act strangely, bsod's and what not.
Turned out, the hard drive connector that is mounted on the mainboard got somehow busted because the plastic that is below that part is directly touching the mainboard and moving/squeezing it up and down if you hold the notebook on the lower right side with one hand.
So now the hard disk controller is getting dma timeouts and is running only in PIO mode which is damn slow (2mb/s max) and it also consumes the cpu quite heavily. This of course renders the notebook almost unuseable which is a bummer.

I'm wondering if there is any solution to this other than replacing the main board which would quite frankly send me into financial ruins of course. :(

This is my second HP/Compaq notebook but I think I will never buy HP again, I can not believe that a delicate part of a notebook isn't properly supported whereas the whole machine has a quite sturdy -i believe magnesium- skeleton.
