    Hi everybody,

I'm new here and this is my first post.

I am planning to buy a laptop for Video editing (mainly DV) and I also want this machine to serve as a pretty good Digital audio Workstation (DAW).

I have read many threads in here and was scared off from Dell Inspiron due to the firewire issue.

I have many questions of course, but here are some:

    1) Is the onboard firewire (nx9420) based on Texas Instrument chipset?

    2) Are there anyone who has succesfully done any video editing on this machine with longer projects than 30 min? I'm planning to buy an extra firewire pcmcia-card for fast storage. I wan't to work with Adobe Premiere 2.0 pro, Adobe Encore, maybe After Effects..

    3) Any other issues with Cubase, vsti, latency, pops or crackles from the soundcard?

If you have some tips, please feel free to comment.

    All the best
