I want to use it for torrents- so it is not high CPU request...
Is it too unhealthy to run this machine without switch off?

It is more unhealthy to constantly download torrents than to just leave the PC running.

As long as it isn't getting too hot, you are fine.

Either prop the back of the laptop up so that there is airflow, or purchase a laptop cooler for it to keep it at a cool temperature.

Yeah just make sure you're notebook is clean. I have mine propped up from the desk and some days it's on all days, as long as the fan isn't running too loudly then you know the temps are fine.

Invest on a notebook cooler if your literally gonna run it 24/7.

i use an nx9110 folded over, with no cooler, running 24/7 as a torrent box, and its fine. i do keep an eye on it with speedfan etc, but otherwise its on all the time, has been for months ....

I would say invest in a small seedbox to keep in your home. You can build one for a very low price (~$200 if you get the parts from Newegg) - just get one of the old AMD processors that cost like $40 right now (or pull one from an old computer) and a very cheap mobo, etc. You don't even need a monitor for it.

A laptop isn't really meant for running torrents 24/7 (or any other server-like functions for that matter). My personal solution is/was to use my desktop for server-like purposes (Apache, etc.) and then use the laptop in such a way that it could be frequently turned on/off.

but using a laptop for these functions makes lots of sense, since they have goo energy saving options that you can miss if you build a desktop specially if you use an old processor, also the laptop can run on batteries, so you don't have to worry about energy shortages
