When I close the lid of my nx9420 and then open it, I sometimes have an issue of the screen being blank. I don't think Windows is working either, because I set it so that pressing the power button shuts down. However, the power down is near instant when I press the button. I have my computer set so that closing the lid takes no action. I have tried reinstalling my video drivers (including ATi and Omega drivers, currently using Omega drivers).

Are you talking about the screen being blank for awhile after the screen is reopened then slowly showing your desktop? If that's the case, I just usually terminate one of the two running processes that associates with the ATI drivers on the task manager. Can't seem to find the exact file right now but it is under processes with a name of "ati...". I'll find the exact file name if need be. Otherwise if that's not your problem, I'll see if I can help out.

It won't show at all actually. I have to power down, losing all my work. It's annoying. HP said my warranty expired even though I purchased the thing in September (not that I want to use their service. 2 weeks to fix my problems that they never fully fixed).

Hmmm... I haven't had that problem yet so I can't say for sure what is wrong with it. I'm still using the ATI drivers and all I do is terminate that one process and everything seems fine. I haven't really touched the Omega drivers because I don't really need to.
