I have a three year old DV 9207us. Has GeForce Go 7600 video card.

I had to do a clean install of Windows Vista Home 32 bit. I installed service pack sp42635 for the nvidia driver. The highest resolution I can get is 1024 X 768. it was higher before the operating system re-install. I have uninstalled the Nvidia drivers back to the generic VGA drivers and then reinstalled the Nvidia drivers. Still max resolution is 1024 x 768 under display settings.

What am I missing to get the resolution to 1440 x 990? I feel it is something simple I have over looked.

As always any help is appreciated.

Well Ok, you did say any help :). I don't have Vista installed anymore so it is a bit difficult to see what you are seeing. First, 1024 x 768 is NOT a wide screen resolution (it is 4:3) so your screen might not be identified correctly in Nvidia Control Panel. Take a look again at some of the settings.

In my Nvidia control Panel with Windows 7, under Display, there is a selection "Change flat panel scaling". When I select it it gives some options about setting the displays resolution. In one senerio it shows the Native Resolution and below it the Current Resolution. To the right there is a large box within a rectangle that says "Change to the Native Resolution". Which in your case should change the display from the Current Resolution to 1440 x 990 (which is a wide screen resolution).

Check the display settings throughly again, especially if there is an advanced selection available somewhere.

By the way, do you actually have Nvidia Control Panel installed or is it just a simple display properties screen?

    deeastman,

Thanks for the suggestion. I reinstalled drivers and then went into nvidia control panel and got it setup. All is well for now. hope it stays now.
