I just bought a compaq armada 7400 off eBay. I only want need it for internet stuff so the fact that's old 'n slow is just fine.
The question is though can I replace the hard drive with any notebook hard drive? Are they all the same physical size? Is there a limit to what the mobo can handle gb wise? And the processor range is 266 - 366, the one I bought is a 266 can I put a 366 in it?

Not looking for a definitive answer, just if it is likley or not that any hard drive would work or not.[

I have recently purchased an Armada 7400 from Ebay and may be able to answer some of your questions
The 7400 seems to be able to accept normal laptop HDs without any problems I have installed a 20gb and am running 98 se OS. The laptop accepts the 20gb with no problems. Not too sure about the Processor mine is 300mhz but think it should be possible to upgrade yours to a 366mhz if you can find one. Worth mentioning that I read somewhere that the bios on the 7400 can accept up to 400mhz processors.
The 7400 can run the following OS 95, 98/98se Me and XP although XP may run a bit slow and Me is really not worth worrying about.
You will also find with the 7400 that the bios settings are saved to the HD and you will need to get software from compaq to enable the bios partion to be set up on the HD this has to be done before OS are installed.
Hope this info helps.
