    old hp laptop nx6310 upgrade to dual core failed

    I've bought 10$ T5600 dualcore, but if I select dualcore in BIOS , pc freezes.
    I've read that hp doesn't allow new processors. But is it possible to change the necessary settings (timings, stepping etc) with BIOS mod or somehow else.
    Anyway single core boosted a speed for about 50% from celeron m430 (according to passmark) so that was not waste of money

    get the manual on your notebook, its lists hp parts numbers and cpus that run on board..CPU microcode has to be in the bios to run a different cpu than what was originally in there, most companies dont put top end one in...
