ok so i ordered the laptop thru hp the dv2000t and was all excited first time was declined because i accidently used the wrong billing address since i moved so they placed it again with the correct one but both orders apparantly went thru my checking account so now i was charged 2x and in negative state with my card, i contacted them and there contacting the bank to release the holds but that could take tomorrow probably very frustrating grr wtf?! i will have to re-order the laptop grrr
EDIT: i just made some more phone calls this could take up to a week? wtf this is ******* so first of all they freakin charge the holds even if the card is declined wtf? then second of all its going to take a week to get my 2000 dollars back into my checking account because they charged it 2x and now im nega overdraft with my checking card for another 2 weeks? this is pissing me off maybe ill just buy another notebook grrr.. im so upset right now

maybe you should get yourself a credit card? or be a little more responsible with your money?
-
how so? this was an error "THEY" made
-
I had a mistake in my address and in my name(I orderd over phone) as well and I only noticed this mistake a few hours later and I called them up and they just made changes to the order and it went through the authorization process without any issues.
You ordered through the store correct, dont know if the process is different but I guess they should have just changed the error in the shipping address and left the billing address as is. Thats what they did for me and my order went through without any problems. -
well apparently mine had complications as usual haha ugh now i gotta wait few days but if i didnt have a credit card id be screwed because i would be money-less right now :l good thing i just payed all my bills couple days ago since i have like 2000 dollars waiting to be released by my bank account, i ordered through the phone.

The way debit and check cards work is that when you make a charge, the amount becomes a 'hold' on your account. It is not technically transferred out, but it is unaccessible to you as a withdrawl or otherwise. After a few days the hold goes through and the money is removed.
What HP does when your info is declined or something is they do not go through with the hold, so it clears a day or two after it's made and the money is again accessible to you.
It's not an instant payment/refund process, because it's dealing with a bank account. -
I don't even have a debit card for my checking account. I have a plain vanilla ATM card. I used to work at Wells Fargo and I saw nothing but problems with debit cards. They just aren't worth the convenience because in the end they are nothing but a headache. Discover and Visa, $$$ and miles, for everything. Pay it off at the end of the month and no worries.

I'm sorry, but I find the title of this thread a little...amusing.
"OMG what the poop"??? Sounds like something someone on the show "South Park" would say. -
Call your bank, wait a day or two and it will clear off your account. I see in your first post you saying it may take a week...
Well that's the way the world works. Takes time.
On your comment about going thru another mfg... Same thing would probally happen if you have gone thru another mfg, had placed two orders, cancelling one, one having the wrong address on it. Having the second /wrong address on it I'm sure screwed things up. -
no they had a typo in my address or something with my zipcode, i didnt cancel the order it was "declined" but it still goes through on their side. it all was done over the phone.

Hi !
I've the same problem as you !
Yesterday I order my new laptop on HP online store. No mistake with the address or something else. But i used French visa credit card (Yes, I'm French, nobody is perfect LOL).
So, at first I received a mail from HP > "Order being processed" you will receive a mail [...] etc, if not before 10pm, phone here [...] etc...
And few hours after I received a new mail > "Order declined"
"Although HP Home & Home Office Store will not charge you for this order, your financial institution may have placed a hold on your account for the amount of this purchase. These types of holds are typically released within a few days."
But, I phone to my bank in France, and they said me "the money was taken" !!!!!!
As you say, in the mail, they speak about some "hold", and "released within a few days"... I really hope you're true !
Do you know more informations !
Thank you
