hey thanks for the quick reply! i guess that's the only way other than obtaining the oem copy and doing a clean install.

Get a Windows Anytime Upgrade disk. This is how I did a clean Vista install following Orev's clean install guide. I ordered mine from CompUSA.com earlier this year but I don't think they sell them anymore. Microsoft does from its Web site, though.

I got rid of all that garbage on my system and I could tell a huge difference. Good luck!

Orev has a GREAT step by step guide that is a sticky on the front of HP & Compaq section.

But here is the info you wanted...

Information on 32bit Vista files: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/08/windows-vista-free-direct-download-link/
Information on 64bit Vista files: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/12/22/64-bit-x64-windows-vista-official-direct-download-links/
NOTE: If you want to use these files to go from 32-bit to 64-bit, you may get an error when extracting the "X13-49121.exe" file. If you do, you will need to open the file with a zip program like "7zip" or "winzip", extract all of the files, then move the "install.wim" and "boot.wim" files into the "sources" folder.
