    Hi everyone,

In the past I always could find good info on the forum. But now I have a problem I cannot solve by me self so I registered and here I am.

The problem is with a HP dv6132eu. (win7 enterprise 64 bit)
The optical drive has some sort of glitch similar to a lot of reports on the web and this forum but not quite the same.
It is randomly gone. So it is not showing up in computer or in the device manager. Sometimes the find new hardware in the dev manager finds the drive and is usable (reading and writing). I ploughed through the internet looking for a solution. So far I tried every ms hotfix; deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry; reinstalling the drive; I looked for firmware updates but there not available and every reboot options there is.

I am starting to suspect a bad connection between the drive and the motherboard.
The optical drive is easily removed (not done yet):

But in the document nor the video I see a cable or other connection points I could check for corrosion etc. So here is the check: How is the optical drive connected to the motherboard? And is it useful to remove it an check the connection? And does any of you had the same or similar problem and found the solution?

    Kind Regards
