All of the pavilion notebooks come pre-installed with XP regardless of what the consumer wants (unfortunately). However, some of the business machines can be customized to order without XP, and those CTOs models (and not all of the business machines can be customized) can be ordered with FreeDOS instead. That saves you $75, but since the price of a CTO is higher than a preconfigured model, it might actually cost more.

If you plan on getting one of the business model CTOs (without XP), check the preconfigured models (which do come with XP) and see if one meets your requirements and costs the same or less. Go for the cheaper option.
