The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.
You will find that depending on where YOU are (the shipping /billing address) and where the VENDOR has a location (kisok in mall, warehouse, or retail store) if they charge sales tax or not.
Have a suggestion... instead of making a new thread on each vendor... call that vendor and ask them.
Newegg in your state may not charge sales tax. I ordered some external hard drive enclosures several months back, one direct from Apricorn the mfg, and another from a internet vendor and was not charged sales tax.

I just received my first order, well, part of my first order from NewEgg. They had great prices, and the parts I got are perfect!
I would not suggest you use UPS, however, their 3-Day select has ended up being 9 days, and I still only have half of my order! NewEgg gave the packages to UPS on the 20th (Turkey day delay expected). They couldn't deliver yesterday because it snowed here in Seattle, so I called and had the 2 packages held at the UPS center about 8 miles away in case it was snowing the next day. I drove down there this morning, and, whatya know? They only had one package on hold for me, and NO RECORD of the second package. She said it should be delivered today, though. So I rushed home as not to miss the UPS delivery, and no package came, so I called them up, they said it is now going to be delivered tomorrow....uh huh... doubt it!
I wish NewEgg had a USPS option... Priority mail would've been WAY faster and even a bit cheaper! I'll use FedEx next time!
I found the UPS truck on my street.... she said the package was in her truck, but she could not find it, so she had to go and deliver other packages and forget about mine! This is the 3-day select package.... now taking 10 days to NOT be delivered!
So I went out at 7:30 pm and a driver came by at 8pm and left a note on my door.... ugh.... it said I could sign the back of it to have the package left at my door, so I signed it and left on my door all day the next day (when the note said it would be delivered again) and guess what... no UPS driver even came to my house! Now 12 days.... still no delivery!
