i had vista on my partition c: and wanted to install xp on partition d:

now it seems to boot only xp and cannot see vista at all. the C drive is still there with all the vista program but it does not boot on it.

is this the case i have to load vistaboot pro now under xp ?

will i be able to recover my vista with all the data on it ?

Anybody here know a link where i can find a step by step to install vistabootpro.

    Only xp is booting now.

Well, crap...I cannot find it now on Microsoft's site, and am not infront of a Vista sp1 machine, but go here:

    http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/

This is a 120mb vista recovery disc that will allow you to run the repair outlined in the first link I point you to.

When Vista sp1 comes out, the ability to make a vista recovery disc is built in. Microsoft did have it on the download center at one time...or maybe it was on technet, I cannot recall, but I did find this guy hosting it for now.

Just burn the ISO with Windows XP, drop it in your CD, reboot, and you can recreate your WIndows Boot Loader (then add XP back)

I don't understand your question radopod.

The first link is for instructions to reset the Windows Boot loader/manager
The second link is to a downloadable Vista Recovery Disk that enables you to run those commands if you are lacking a Vista disk

In Vista Sp1, (due out to general public in March), there will be a utility to create this disk. Anyone with Vista and no Vista DVD should have one of these handy
