P and W series. -
go for a Dell , maybe Latitude or Vostro,a much better deal and let you CTO fully , also dont forget HP does NOT offer high resolution screen even for P or W business models.
also, Dell let you choose high grade GPU that HP never offers , HP,to me , is pure mass media main stream brand , if you like flashy and gmmicky , you might love it but I truly got disapponted , it hurts compaq rep too, too bad.
I personally buying an ASUS or Acer to replace my hp. -
HP does NOT offer high resolution screen even for P or W business models.
really , how high a resolution you talking about ? -
Business offers WSXGA+ resolutions on a 15" The business line are well made and you can still have xp pro put on. The NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M graphics is not too shabby either.
-
that is what i thought , no high resolution my ass . i have the 8510-p and the wsxga is fine

so returning to the tOpic, dOes really the dv2700 has overheating issues? after reading the 2700, it said a more quiet but not a cooler one.. atleast it does not have a wireless or left hinge issues like the 6000 and 9000 line
-
It was the older models that had overheating problems, mostly the models before dv2500. They have fixed most of the issues
Mine doesnt overheat -
no in ths part of world , and even if it does, it is not WUXGA like Dells.
plus , Dell is better it is my opinion and many dislike HP but we have to try it first to know if you like it ,is sad.
any way, it is a fact that Dell is much cheaper if you configure HPs business like high end Dells and still Dell has better quality service. -
it's got not that kind of problem at least the one I bought but it is slow.
i tried to install Linux and Chinese and Japanese fonts but did not work so I just installed new SP1.
but I am restoring it like when I got it because I am trading it in for a SZ, a Dell Vostro1400 or an ASUS F8SN.
it is true if you spend 2000US you can get the HP business whatever with a decent Graphics card and screen but it is 600more than a good Dell Vostro, and if you spend that much , you better off getting a Thinkpad T or Dell Latitude D series.
also the battery life on it is not so great. like my Toshiba , it is portable but not practical in mobile use due to its horrible battery life.
for me no more HPs, Toshibas and Apples. -
I think you should try configuring a Dell Vostro with high res LCD and NV and compare it to HP business xxxx prices , you'll know what I mean.
Please dont take it personally though, I think HP is selling its pavillions for more consumer fashion minded people and (not you) but these buying it paying significant amount of premium for that HP imprint finish and HP name.
Business line may be better but they are extremely expensive and not worth it since Dells are much cheaper with the same features.
Finally,I understand some people really love theirs or develop special feeling for their choice of brand , but for me it is just a tool and nothing more than that, I replace it every year so no feeling developed and paying premium for build quality is ridiculous(build quality is as with design very personal or subjective any way), that 's it.
Take care and have a good night. -

bTw, whats ur processor specs? -
HP 8510w has WUXGA...
-
my friend has a dv2700 t/z...the intel one lol. the one thing i noticed was that 3/4 of the fan is covered, severely restricting airflow.
-
I noticed this myself and don't understand why this was done, but it may be one of the factors in explaining the abnormal hd temps I'm getting with a dv2000 series model in comparison to a dv6000......
-
The HD? the fan doesnt cover the HD. The fan only cools the GPU and CPU.The HDD cools itself passively with a big vent on the bottom of the notebook
I do have a notebook cooler on but these are the temps that i get after the notebook has been on for about 2 hours on medium load:
for reference, doesnt look like its near overheating does it.. without the cooler its slightly higher -
hmmmm seems intel dv's are much cooler than amd
my current temps(HW MONITOR) - high performance mode for 6+ hours
ACPI:56
CPU: 51,52
GPU: 51
HD:46
too lazy to post pic lol.
edit: no notebook cooler -
I know, but restricted airflow from the cpu/gpu fan would increase overall chassis temp (which can amplify the hd's temp)....
-
yeah thats true, as the cpu and gpu sit right next to it. It doesnt add significant heat to the HDD but its noticable

Assuming you haven't done so already, flash in the current BIOS. It will lower your temps substantially and likely prevent the thermal failures others have suffered. Intel users should do the same for the same reason. -
I just got a DV2700T with intel core 2 duo 2.5 and my temp with HW Monitor are
ACPI: 50, 55
CPU: 43, 43
GPU: 60
HD: 49 -
looks good
overheating issues!
