When is the last time you defraged your hard drive and ran a good virus scan, or checked for any spyware? Also from time to time a reinstall of your OS may be required as it gets updated and bloated with software over time.

It sounds like you've accumulated a lot of cached files and unnecessary programs.

You may have programs running in the background that are bogging down your CPU. Hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc and reply back with the amount of processes running and the current memory usage on the lower right.

Here's a good program to cleanup your caching and temporary files:
    http://stevengould.org/downloads/cleanup/CleanUp452.exe
(This program can take a while to complete for the first time.)

Afterwords, click "Start" and go to "Run." In this window, type in "msconfig." This will bring up your System Configuration window. In this window, click on the "Startup" tab. Everything in this tab starts up when you turn on your computer. Those programs running in your background are most likely launched via this tab.

You can disable most of these programs that are not vital to the integrity of your operating system. Some of those programs include; MSN, Yahoo, Adobe, MS Office, Java, AOL, Google, iTunes, etc. Disable the programs that you know for a fact would not be used and/or could be launched manually when you need them.

Let us know how it goes.

P.S. I would only recommend a complete reinstall as a last resort. Let's see how things progress.

No, you would not. We'd help you backup that data before you reinstall :).

Is it F-Secure Anti virus or Internet security?

Because you shouldnt run 2 anti virus programs simultaneously, it will drain your resources.
