    Hi
    I have a problem with my wife's DV2 1005ee laptop
the performance is pretty poor slow boot up and its even struggle to open a movie and sometime its just lock's up and have to hard reset it by long press on power button.

    specs :
    1.6 amd neo single core
    2gb of ddr2
and 160gb of hdd 5200 rpm
    ati dedicated card

it should be able to run the system just fine.
i will try to upgrade the ram to 4 gigs and will do a chkdsk to see if the hdd got some bad sectors.
but will still open for any suggestions from ppls do have the same laptop.

I know others may not suggest this kind of action as the first course of action and approach to this issue, I always do a clean install upon any funny business like lock ups, BSODs etc.

However it appears that your wife's lappy is just lacking in the performance area. How much of her HDD is filled? Sometimes a clogged C drive leads to lackluster performance.

Is a virus possible? Have you updated drivers and Windows?

One of my older machines used to lock up when trying to play DVDs/flash video and an update was all that was necessary to get it back into working order.

well the problem si partly fixed by deleting the presentationfont.dat files
its better now but still have the poor performance issue but way better than before it seems i will have to run a tune up utility and do reg cleaning and hdd cleaning and windows error fixing.
